Royal News: King Charles Battling Cancer – Latest Treatment and Updates

According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer unrelated to prostate cancer while being treated for an enlarged prostate. A specific form of cancer has not been revealed, but the King has begun "regular treatment" and remains hopeful. Prince William maintained regular contact with the King, and Prince Harry, who lives in the United States, plans to visit the UK shortly.

During his treatment, the King will temporarily postpone public engagements, and other senior royals will take over. The stage and prognosis of the cancer have not been disclosed. Even though public events will be paused, King Charles will still fulfill his constitutional role as head of state, including paperwork and private meetings. In the event of the head of state's inability to carry out his or her duties, the constitution provides for the appointment of counselors of state. These include Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.

It was over a week ago that the King, 75, underwent a prostate procedure in a private London hospital, and he disclosed it to encourage men to get their prostate checked. As a result of his public acknowledgment, the NHS website received a surge of inquiries about prostate conditions. He has received support for his campaign to raise awareness about men's health issues, from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, to Commons Speaker Sir Lyndsay Hoyle.
